Sunni and I spent part of day one of the Freedom Summit doing the interview. The next day she gave her talk in the morning, and has graciously given permission for it to be posted here. The audio was recorded by Charles Heller, and I've just edited it down a bit to take out some material in the file leaving only Sunni's talk. Sunni Maravillosa- Part 1 (27:15, 12.7M)

Part 1 of my interview with unabashed individualist anarachist Sunni Maravillosa back in early November 2005 when we met up at the Freedom Summit. We discuss her path to anarchy as well as ties between her current worldview and her background in psychology.

Every interview I do is a bit of a learning process, and I try to make at least one improvement each time. This month I am pleased to report that you will never again hear that godawful beeping noise that was in the last three interviews, and I am also learning a bit more about improving the sound quality in other ways. Freedom Summit

Steve White- Part 4 (44:49, 22.2M)

Originally, I thought we lost some material, but now I think I was wrong on that. I continue to give Steve some guff over his tendancy toward gender-based collectivism. Then Steve has some fun pushing my individualist buttons. This leads us into a discussion of his next novel which will branch out from science fiction into literature targetting men as an audience. We do some market research on one of Steve's roommates. And then we award the Soon-To-Be-Coveted PoddyTalk Colostomy Gift Bag, and turn Steve loose on a 60-Second Rant.

We discuss Steve's writing projects incluing science fiction short stories and a completed draft novel. We also chat about a No Girls Allowed Book Club started by Steve and a few other fellows. I still haven't figured out why not having a penis disqualifies me from a book group- I have no built-in bookmark or what exactly?

Steve White- Part 1 (40:52, 20.3 M)

This month's interview features Steve White. This was the first interview I ever conducted. I learned a lot during that interview including some stuff about microphone placement and also that it is a bad idea to type on the computer from which you are recording while recording is in progress. (I have yet to figure out how to get rid of that annoying periodic buzz/beep noise.) Many thanks to Steve for being the first waffle out of the iron.

We talk a little bit about Steve's background, analyze some of the uncensored ads from one of Seattle's weekly tabloids, and then chat about his work with the Nightly Observing Program at Kitt Peak National Observatory and as Astronomer-in-Residence at the Pacific Science Center.

We discuss Jacqueline's blog and dating. Sadly, the battery went from 19% to dead almost immediately after I saved this segment, and we didn't have an electrical outlet available. This month's interview features Jacqueline Mackie Paisley Passey. This was the second interview I ever conducted. Jacqueline and I blow off the news and babble for a little while (babbling instigated by me- Jacqueline is not responsible). You would not be missing anything if you skipped over the first six and a half minutes. At that point we talk about Jacqueline's run for Washington State Secretary of State.

The good news this month is that I've learned (thanks to putrimalu of LibertyFilter) how to make my files smaller. However, since the interviews are fairly lengthy, I'll still post them in segments. Terry Bressi- Part 1 (30:06, 14.6M)

This month I am pleased to present an interview with Terry Bressi. To help make downloading a little less painful, I've broken the interview up into multiple segments. I'm posting each segment separately until I figure out how aggregators deal with multiple audio files in a single post.

I met Terry at The University of Arizona which he attended after serving five years in the United States Coast Guard. He graduated with bachelor's degrees in both astronomy and physics and has been working in astronomy as an engineer/observer ever since. In his capacities as both student and employee, has had run-ins with The University of Arizona, the Tohono O’odham Police Department, and the Department of Homeland Security. In our interview, he discusses his efforts to insist upon his rights being respected.

In the introductory segment of the interview, we introduce Terry and attempt to probe his mortal soul by asking strange/embarassing questions. Terry is having none of it. Then Terry does the news. His topic of choice was border patrol issues, and it was quite illuminating for me.

PoddyTalk is the show where we’re not afraid to use f-words like freedom, free-market, futurist, or even to drop the occasional f-bomb. We’ll be talking about liberty, space, sex, and whatever else my guests and I happen to find interesting. The current plan calls for posting one show each month or so. You are welcome add your thoughts about a particular podcast in the comments section of the relevant post for that podcast subject to shitcanning at my whim. Constructive criticism is very welcome- I'm still moving up the learning curve on the logistics (for example, I have discovered that it is not a good idea to type on the same computer that's recording the interview) and any suggestions for improving sound quality, interviewing skills, etc... would be greatly appreciated. (I am particulary interested in how to eliminate that odd recurring buzz/beep noise that crops up in the first few interviews- I'm using GarageBand and, no, it's not the metronome because I turned that off.) Being an ass is not welcome. I will shitcan comments without explanation or justification that I find to be abusive, harassing, spam, etc...
