The Year of Broken Things
Posting from: Tucson, AZ
Listening to: The Guilty Bystanders, Farther Than The Stars
This theme of my life this year of each and every thing I have breaking one by one is getting a little old. So far this year things broken have included:
1. My computer.
2. My hormonal system.
3. Pepper's pancreas.
4. Pepper's ear.
5. The handle of my toilet.
6. My dryer's heating element.
7. My XM radio.
8. The boombox attachment for my XM radio.
9. My television antenna cable.
10. My electrical circuit box went up in flames.
11. My air conditioner was destroyed as a result of the electrical fire.
12. The door to my house was broken when I was robbed two days after the electrical fire.
13. The CD player in my car (a CD is stuck in it right now, and not even a good one).
14. The passenger side window to my car.
15. Whatever makes the dryer spin.
16. Pepper's pancreas- again. She is down from a little over 49 pounds to a little over 43 pounds.
17. The handle to the door of my toaster oven.
18. My toilet handle again.
19. Pepper's kidneys.
Today I got home and got the results of Pepper's bloodwork from when she was at the vet Monday for the pancreatitis- her platelets are low and her thyroid is not normal. The vet says this is probably not related to her current problem, but that we should keep an eye on it and I should call him in the morning. Naturally, I am worried.*
I would really like to finish out the year without anything else major going to hell. Just two months for me to get my shit back together would be really nice.
*I really should not research this on the web right before bedtime. I think it's going to make me feel better, but it really just puts all sorts of horrible ideas in my head about what is causing it.

I'm sorry your year has been so broken. Fortunately, there's not much of it left!
I think it'd be uplifting for you to tally the good things that have happened to you this year. Anything new learned, any joys shared, any fun experiences - perhaps they can help cancel out some of those negatives.
And here's hoping next year is the Year of Mending.

Wow. Can anyone use that, or should I delete that comment quick before everyone and his brother finds it? I got an ad in my mailbox about 3 weeks ago with a sale on the item I wanted- now I'm really glad I didn't run out and get it because it's way cheaper in this store. As soon as I figure out how expensive it's going to wind up being to get my dog fixed, I'm going shopping. Right now, mine works but the tuner knob has popped off and I can't get it to snap back on. I can still tune it with the buttons and remote, but I'm a little worried that something will get inside the unit and gum up the circuitry.
You may want to only share it with friends but I don't care if a bunch of people use it, just obscure the info and share it people you actually know. Okay?

Let me give you a little Texas philosophy: When life hands you lemons, bust out the tequila and limes. Trust me, it helps.
