Enjoy Every Sandwich

An individualist, archaphobic, libertarian (reformed former partyarch), possibly-armed, ifeminist, engineer, dog lover, INTJ, space nut, defender of misrepresented native species, atheist Flying Spaghetti Monsterist wire-haired man-goblin enjoying every sandwich while promoting liberty and neighborliness. (And did I mention my sex toy business?)

Packing Has Commenced

Posting from: Tucson, AZ

I have this fantasy wherein I box up all my stuff neatly in boxes of the same size. Each box is labeled with a number and sealed neatly with six pieces of tape (corner pieces folded neatly with a hospital corner technique). Each number is recorded in a handy spreadsheet along with a complete and accurate listing of the contents of the associated box. Upon my arrival at my new home, with spreadsheet in hand I will quickly survey the house and record the room each box belongs in next to the box number on the spreadsheet. Then when I'm unpacking, I will very efficiently offload boxes, placing each box in the correct room to be opened at a later time. I will travel confident in the knowledge that nothing has inadvertently been left behind.

It's just too bad that all my stuff doesn't take care of this itself like in Toy Story where the toys all had move buddies. On the other hand, maybe it's best if I handle this myself. Like the toys, some of my stuff might be holding grudges against other stuff. I can just see my Yoga for Dummies DVD tossing my Firefly and Serenity DVDs out the window in a bid for more attention.

Nice dream, if only it would work like that!
I remember when I was packing for our last move, it all started out so well. Neat boxes, all the same size, carefully labeled.
I think that stuff got tired of sitting packed up for so long and somehow things ended up in different places than where I put it...
I wish you good luck with packing and moving! May I never have to do it again.
